Fast and effective. That’s all we ask of a recipe for an evening meal after a hard day’s work. This tomato sauce recipe will appeal to children and adults alike. Now that we’ve got you covered, it’s time to cook !
* Ingredients :
☞ 1 onion, chopped
☞ 3 large spoon Olive oil
☞ 1 lbof a mixture of ground meats (beef, veal, pork)
☞ 2 garlic cloves, finely chopped
☞ 1/2 cup chorizo, pepperoni or other dry sausage, finely
☞ chopped (optional)
☞ 2 cans, (28 oz) Italian tomatoes, mashed
☞ 1/2 teaspoon (2.5 ml) dried oregano
☞ Salt / pepper
* Directions :
1 – In a large saucepan, soften the onion in the oil. Add the meat and continue cooking over high heat, crumbling until golden brown. Salt and pepper. combine the garlic / sausage. Cook for 2 minutes. Add the tomatoes and herbs. Bring to a boil.
2 – Simmer over low heat for about 1 hour or until the sauce has thickened. Adjust seasoning.
* NOTE
Freeze flat in airtight bags to maximize freezer space.
The chorizo (or sausage) is not essential to the recipe, but the spices it contains are a nice addition to the sauce.
